Max16818 pulse width modulation (PWM) led drive controller adopts compact package, which can provide large output current with the least external components. Max16818 is ideal for synchronous and asynchronous buck topologies, as well as boost, buck boost, SEPIC and Cuk LED driver architectures. Max16818 adopts Maxim's innovative LED drive controller architecture (patent pending), which can realize fast led transient current of up to 20A / µ s and brightness adjustment frequency of 30kHz. The device adopts average current mode control. By optimizing the use of MOSFET with the best charge and on resistance characteristics, the demand for external radiator can be minimized even when the output LED current is up to 30A. True differential detection technology can accurately control the LED current. Wide range brightness adjustment can be easily realized through external PWM signal. The internal voltage regulator and simple external bias device can make the device work in a wide input voltage range of 4.75V to 5.5V or 7V to 28V. The switching frequency range is wide, up to 1.5MHz, allowing the use of small inductors and capacitors. Max16818 has a clock output with a 180 ° phase delay, which can be used to control another LED driver working in staggered phase to reduce the size of input and output filter capacitors and reduce ripple current. Max16818 also provides programmable belch type overcurrent, overvoltage and overheating protection functions. The max16818ete is rated to operate in the extended level temperature range (- 40 ° C to 85 ° C), while the max16818ate operates in the automotive level temperature range (- 40 ° C to 125 ° C).
