They are playful, very affectionate and they love to cuddle up with their owners. Before purchasing your skunk, you will want to be sure that you are able to spend time with your pet.Skunks do not like being alone. As with any animal, they are not for everyone. People with children have to keep a watchful eye.Children can be rough with animals and a skunk, as well as any other small animal pets, can bite if frightened, sense an imminent danger or injured. Skunks are usually very good when they are around kids that are calm and gentle. It's best to get your skunk while it's still a baby. Just remember that most pet stores will only de-scent your skunk. You will be the one who has to have them spayed/neutered. Unless you are a breeder, you will need to have them altered.Unaltered males become more aggressive and the females can die from being in heat because it takes so much out of them. You will find that your pet will be happier and healthier if you have them spayed/neutered. This should be done when they are 4 months old. It's very important that you handle your baby skunk a lot to keep them tame. When disciplining your skunk NEVER spank! Skunks are very smart and they never forgive or forget being hit. They tend to get even with whoever hurts them. Use verbal tones and a spray bottle to discipline.Skunks are not caged pets, but they do need their own bed to sleep in. Place their bed somewhere quiet so when they do want to relax they have a place to themselves. You may find that your skunk pet will want to curl up and sleep beside you. You will want to skunk-proof your house to prevent injuries or escape. You will also have to enrich your pet's environment with playful toys and sensory toys too.If your skunk should ever get out, the odds of getting the skunk back are extremely low. They are not like a cat or dog that may eventually come home. A skunk will keep going and never come back. Skunks are very playful indeed. They love to romp around with stuffed animal toys, rubber balls or anything else that catches their squeaky attention. If you use reclining chairs be extra careful. A skunk, just like ferrets, hamsters and chinchilla likes dark cave-like places and will more than likely crawl under a chair that is in it's reclined position. The mechanisms can crush and kill your skunk so always use caution when using a recliner. To keep your skunk healthy, make sure you give your skunk all available vaccinations. Most diseases your skunk can get are airborne so vaccinations are extremely important. Skunks also carry roundworms so it's important to have them wormed every month.Skunks mostly eat vegetables but they do like to add some fruits, low-fat cottage cheese, and of course low-fat yogurt into the mix too. Make sure your skunk pet always has a fresh supply of drinkable water available at all times. Skunks love to beg for table scraps(and cutely too) and will always act like they are starving even after just eating a big meal a minute ago. Giving them treats every now and then is okay, but over-feeding your pet will lead to obesity, and like other small animals, being obese is very unhealthy. Never give your skunk pet chocolate! Chocolate foods can kill them.A healthy skunk pet, if taken care of properly, can live up to 22 years. In case you do not think skunks are the right small animal pet for you, there are other great selections of little animal pets to choose from too. I paid the vet to keep my dog for a week. they have kennels and lots of other pets there. but they lost my dogOhh, this is a tough one, i think they would have to pay you money to replace the dog. Im not really sure, i guess you could get some money because they lost YOUR dog in THEIR care. Good luck!— — — — — —Can household pets become infected with COVID-19 and then transmit it to other pets and human beings?NO. Dogs and cats cannot become infected or transmit the novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. Period. As others have mentioned there was a case of 1 dog in Hong Kong that had a low level infection in its nose. After the quarantine period the dog was tested again and the test result was negative. So the dog did not contract or transmit COVID-19.It is extremely important to be informed from legitimate scientific sources and not to spread misinformation.Misinformation can kill under these circumstances. If someone with COVID-19 sneezes on your dog then the virus could be on its fur but that is not a very likely scenario and a quick bath with soap and water would clean your dog off. Please do not worry and let everyone know that our pets are safe. Can household pets become infected with COVID-19 and then transmit it to other pets and human beings?.— — — — — —What breed of dog is best if you have children and other pets?It depends on many things, such as lifestyle and age of children. How much time do you have to exercise a dog for example? We have had many dogs over the last 40 years. We personally decided to have smaller dogs when the children were younger as it was easier for them to play a more active role in caring for them, purely from a size perspective. My favourites are Jack Russells. Some people say they are snappy but we've had several and never found them so. Just cute, playful little characters tough enough to keep up with lively kids. Large boisterous young dogs can knock small children flying and sometimes don't know their own strength! But I truly believe that all dogs, if socialised and trained correctly, can be wonderful pets for children. With regards to other animals, I would avoid dogs with a strong prey drive, such as a hound. We had a beautiful rescue greyhound for 12 years but were never able to trust him around small running animals. His inbuilt desire to chase and kill small furries was too strong although he was gentle as a lamb at all other times. I would also avoid some of the more delicate little breeds such as the 'Toy' group. All children must be taught to respect animals and be gentle but it's so easy to accidentally hurt a fragile small dog in a busy household. Now that our kids are grown we have Staffordshire terriers. They are such adorable loving dogs. I would recommend them if you have the time to exercise them as they are high energy dogs.We also have a cross-bred Westie/Pug. She's absolutely perfect as a pet but won't be winning any prizes at crufts!— — — — — —I have to put my cat down, what do I do after that?Cry, cry some more, and then cry again. And talk to friends, give other pets extra attention , maybe get drunk. It does not matter, just deal with the loss as well as you can. Then after a certain amount of time passes, remember. Remember all the love and happiness your kitty gave you. Remember and smile and laugh, and never forget all the wonderful times you had together and that fact that your kitty decided to share his life with you— — — — — —Does our puppy have fleas? Should we contain him to a part of the house until he's been treated?if u have other pets then yes u should and if u dont then u can either lock him up so it wont get anywhere or u can cover furniture and keep him out of the cooking area :)— — — — — —What breed of dog would be best for a family with a new born and no other pets?A small dog, When i was a baby we had a cocker spaniel and it bit me and we ended up having to put it to sleep. So i dont think that would be the best choice. Now i have a bichon frise and she is the best dog i have ever seen, im not just saying this, she is so good with everyone. she is very loving and loves attention, she also knows when to play and when to relax. I have a newborn cousin and she loves him, she is very gentle with him and is very motherly and protective to him. I know a few other people who have one and it is the same. they are amazing dogs. and they are unbelievibly cute.
